We haven’t written much about the world of the War Guardians, but this story was actually based on a series of fanfiction that I co-wrote with my Ragnarok Online guildmates. I couldn’t finish the fanfics because there were so many things I wanted to write about, but I got overwhelmed by the words. (I swear there’s a song about this dilemma by Gloria Estefan!) Some writers probably know this problem: that feeling when you want to tell a story but you get so caught up in describing things that you’d lose your train of thought and end up not completing the story. Becoming a game developer later in life solved this problem for me. I no longer have to describe people, places, and events because visual artists and musicians could help me build the world I envisioned without having to use so many words. A game designer like me could just assemble the pieces and then weave, weave, weave. Read More
TITLE: Book 1: Pisces (War Guardian Chronicles) Relaxed Edition
GENRE: Role-playing, Turn-Based, Hack & Slash
RELEASE DATE: July 4, 2016
GAMEPLAY LENGTH: Approximately 6-11 hours
THE RELAXED (turn-based) EDITION.
Many of our players have requested for a turn-based version of Song of Pisces, the hack and slash role-playing game that we have released in May of 2015. This is us delivering what was requested. Book 1: Pisces is a completely different game, given the complete change in mechanics, even though the core story is basically the same.
What’s new in this “Relaxed Edition”?
Forgive us for being pretty quiet during the first half of the year. It might seem unusual because we were able to release 3 games (Prologue, Mathoria, Adarna) before our first year and 3 more games (Song of Pisces, Zenaya, Anemone) by the end of 2015. But 2016 is what we call the year of the sequels. We decided to slow down a bit and work on the feedback we’ve received from the previous year. Yes, we were quiet, but rest assured that no, we were most definitely not slacking off. In fact, we will take this time to give you guys a run down on what you can expect from us in 2016. Read More
We were supposed to start working on Book 2: Taurus in January of 2016, right after all the character illustrations have been submitted by our resident concept artist, Sao Menguito. In fact, our pixel artist Hans Antonio had already begun creating the tile sets and the character sprites for Taurus. To this day, I have not started building its world. The reason for this? Last January, I was paralyzed by the lack of closure I had with Song of Pisces. By that, I mean, despite the fact that I had labored so much to build its world, I had been unhappy with the outcome. That is, fans of its predecessor, Prologue, had been completely alienated by it.
